Free wellbeing support for young people aged 12-24 living in Counties Manukau DHB

Connection and Wellbeing Support

We support youth and young adults to build their connection with extended family and their cultural identity. There are programmes to support youth and young adults to embrace their journey, discovery and growth through their connection.

Community-based services are available to support Maaori and Pacific young people (aged 12 to 24 years) to build their connection with extended whaanau and their cultural identity.

Awhi Rito

Awhi Rito provides a 10-week "Reconnection Program" available to all rangatahi Maaori. Awhi Rito offers rangatahi Maaori a unique opportunity to engage, connect, and enhance their sense of self by embracing their Maaori identity. The program is designed to immerse rangatahi Māori in the values of te ao Maaori, helping them reconnect with their whakapapa and strengthen their ties to whaanau, hapuu, and iwi. The cultural values and practices of tikanga Maaori guide their journey of discovery and growth.

Fōlauga-Fou

At Mapu Maia, our Ta’iala Youth Wellbeing Programmes support our youth aged 12–24 through culturally grounded, strengths-based mentoring and group learning. Over 8 structured sessions, our experienced Ta’iala Youth Navigators walk alongside our youth, nurturing wellbeing, identity, and personal growth.

The individual mentoring programme provides one-to-one guidance, helping our youth set meaningful goals and pathways, build confidence, and strengthen life skills, communication, and resilience. The group programme offers a safe space to connect with peers, explore identity, and grow through shared experiences and interactive learning.

Together, these programmes empower our youth to feel supported, develop clear goals and pathways, and navigate life’s challenges with confidence and purpose.
